About Laura Hammond Counselling
Laura Hammond MBCAP
My journey towards becoming a therapist began when I found myself connecting with a desire for a more purposeful way of being. My interest in mental wellbeing, emotions and psychological functioning, coupled with my own experiences of counselling and psychotherapy, were the inspiration behind my training.

In addition to working with clients in my private counselling practice I am a volunteer counsellor for the NHS at a GP practice in York, supporting individuals with a wide range of issues.
I have comprehensive professional experience at a Yorkshire-based Alcohol and Drug recovery service, providing psychological support and facilitating therapeutic peer support groups for adults wanting to be free from the cycle of addiction.

I also have experience of providing in-moment support to children, young people and adults via Shout, the 24/7 mental health crisis text service.
Experience, Qualifications and Registration
I am a registered member of the BACP and work in line with their comprehensive ethical framework. I receive clinical supervision from a UKCP registered supervisor and undertake regular CPD as required by the BACP. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, I am fully insured, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under the Data Protection Act 2018.

I make these commitments to ensure that I am able to practice safely, ethically and responsibly, and always in the best interests of each and every client.
